"Mixed Monday"
Today was the first day back at the grind after returning from vacationing in Maine. As if Monday's aren't tough enough! Fortunately, my vacation memories were still fresh enough to fall back on.

Before I left for Maine I was thinking how nice it would be to have a practice instrument on vacation. Well, the first part of the trip was spent in a house in the mountains and, surprise, surprise, I found a Hammond organ in storage in the basement. No, I didn't feel comfortable setting it up but I did feel better knowing it was down there and took it as a good sign.

My first impulse to write a Rampage occurred while I was swimming in a crystal-clear lake surrounded by stoic mountains. As my eyes danced over the view, the title "No Soundtrack Needed" came to mind. That was as far as I got. The next impulse occurred at the ocean. Where the mountains were silent, the ocean had a lot to say. In fact, the complexity of a Bach fugue may just equal the complexity of ocean waves. I spent a long time trying to verify that but I definitely need to do some more research on the subject. Unfortunately, it will have to wait until next year.

I'd like to thank Jim Gladstone for bringing the following article to my attention. Although it didn't do anything to improve my Monday, as they say, don't shoot the messenger:
