"On Eagle's Wings"
Last weekend was a busy one so I didn't catch much of the Reagan ceremonies but I did happen to see the following article (may load slowly):
It's about Hal Weaver, the organist at First Christian Church in Dixon, Illinois, who plays "the same pipe organ that was at the church when Reagan was a young man." For more on the relationship between Reagan and First Christian Church, Dixon, follow this link:

Anyway, the article had indicated that Mr. Weaver was to play "On Eagle's Wings" for the June 10th Reagan Memorial Service at the church. This caught my eye because the solo at my church last Sunday was "On Eagle's Wings." I don't know what version Mr. Weaver used but we used the Michael Crawford version rather than the congregational sing-along original. It went over quite well and I was asked about the sheet music so I thought I'd pass it on:

The accompaniment is a piano reduction of the orchestral arrangement on the CD, which, I think, actually works better when transferring to the organ than the original piano accompaniment. For those who are interested, here's a link to the Crawford CD:

One last Reagan-related link is a CD recommended by community member Jim Stettner. Click the link below to hear samples from "The Great Organ of Washington National Cathedral."

Added is The Bamboo Organ website. In February, THE WORLD ORGAN FESTIVAL (an annual event) for The Bamboo Organ will be held. In the mean time, anyone wishing to purchase recordings of previous events /festivals may do so from the church gift shop directly. They also have t-shirts, etc.

Have a great week!
