"Getting Religion"
This week I'd like to share with you an article that appeared on May 20th in the New York Times. Written by author Bernard D. Sherman, the article is entitled "Coming to Fresh Terms with the Sacred in Bach." It can be found on Mr. Sherman's website, along with many of his other writings, at:

http://homepages.kdsi.net/~sherman/SuzukTimes.htm

The writer uses the career of Japanese keyboardist and conductor Masaaki Suzuki as a starting point for a discussion of the role of Christianity in interpreting the music of J.S. Bach. Mr Sherman thoroughly explores both sides of this issue and raises important questions that may affect your understanding of our favorite composer's music. A must read!
